History
The Faculty of computer science and telecommunication was founded on August 26, 2002. Since September 1, 2013, due to reorganization, it was translated into the faculty of information technologies and applied mathematics. In 2012 the faculty celebrated its first anniversary – 10 years from foundation of the faculty. Within these 10 years it made a headlong breakthrough, allowing to a new subdivision to become a bearing faculty of the university’s development program. The first turn-out was in June 2008. There were 112 graduates. At different times at the faculty studied students from far-abroad and former Soviet Union countries – China, Equador, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia, Vietnam, Angola, Nigeria, Mozambique, Indonesia, Zambia, Ucraine, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan etc.

Certain educational programs received certificates of public and professional accreditation and certificates of EUR-ACE Label. Programs are included into all European register of accredited engineer programs, which provides undergraduates of the BSNRU in future get by the certification and registration as “international professional engineers”. Diplomas of the undergraduates BSNRU are admitted not only in Russia but in Europe and USA. Undergraduates of the Faculty after completing specialists training or getting Bachelor degree may continue their education on the following Master degree programs:

thesis researches can be defended in Dissertation Council D 212.015.10 BSNRU that include leading scientist of the university.
During carrying out laboratory work and conducting researches the newest high tech facilities and software including high performance systems are used.
Supercomputer “Nezhegol” went onstream. It enters in the top 50 most high power supercomputers in CIS.
Research work
On the faculty was created and had been developing a research area “Informative –communicative technologies and computational modeling” under guidance of professor Zhelyakov E.G.. Within it works standing scientific seminar.
Main achievements are connected with development of mathematical support and software of parallel processing aerospace shots basing on high-performance multiprocessing computing cluster also usage of graphic accelerator including development of original mathematical background and effective methods of decoding objects on the earth’s imagery.
Support of the cloud computing for providing remove usage of supercomputing equipment is creating.
Mathematical methods and technologies of formation and processing of effective channel sign are developing.
They allow to provide cost minimization of bandwidth-time resources for transfer and storage of information and raise noise stability of info communication systems.
Schemes and methods for speech and image coding are developing. They allow to decrease size of their bit image essentially and upon storage and transfer to rise security of the storing and transferring information.
Radical mathematical methods and schemes for compression of audio data were created . It helps to decrease traffic during delivery essentially.
Offers on hardware and firmware implementing of created schemes for decoding sound and picture are creating.
Students of the faculty get enhanced scholarship for good achievement in scientific, public, sporting activities and creativity, as well as Presidential scholarship for students that study within the major and specialty corresponding to priority orientations of modernization and technological development of the economy in Russia.
International contacts and academic mobility.
The Faculty takes an active part in international cooperation development BSNRU and implementation of the students’ mobility program with international partners.
About 60 foreign students study at the faculty within different specialties.
The faculty has the close rapport with other leading Universities such as Byelorussian State University, Bremen University(Germany) and University of Cergy-Pontoise(France).
