Social Sphere

Faculty of Engineering and Physics provides favorable conditions for organization of extracurricular character building work with students. The implementation of this work takes into consideration not only possibilities of the faculty itself but also involves opportunities that the Department of social and educational work, the directorate of Youth Cultural Center and other divisions of BelSU provide students with to arrange social and educational activities.

At the faculty students can be engaged in a large range of social life areas.

Thus, the faculty entered into cooperation with military unit No. 27898 in Belgorod for the purpose of civic and patriotic education including joint arrangements. Representatives of the unit are invited to hold substantial educational discussions that became traditional at the faculty. First-year students get acquainted with the military unit while making a tour of its home station. Then students and officer personnel keep establishing a liaison during civic and patriotic events. Bridges between students and enlisted men are built through cooperation when preparing celebration events on 23rd February, 8th March, 9th May Days and during “Zarnitsa” (heat lightning) military-patriotic game held by the university trade-union organization yearly.

Faculty of Engineering and Physics is also in close cooperation with Belgorod regional police lycee named after the Hero of Russia V.V. Burtsev. This educational institution always welcomes our students warmly in its hall and accepts invitations to faculty events with pleasure as well. This cooperation embraces not only creative but also sport activities. Our faculty students compete with the lycee ones in team sports (football, volleyball, basketball) every year. Such cooperation provides favorable conditions for gaining experience in collective activities and team building.

Faculty of Engineering and Physics undertakes volunteer activities under the auspices of Tatyana Laverchenko, faculty trade union organizer. The chairperson of volunteer team is Alina Nemakina. Our students have cooperated with the Center of distance learning of disabled children since its opening in Belgorod engineering junior boarding school. Volunteers hold different events for such children: competitions, videoconferences, quizzes and the New Year celebration which became traditional within the framework of charity campaign “With warm words, by good works”. Children from Rakitnoye residential treatment center which is another mentee of our faculty are also looking for our students along with their season's greetings.

Our volunteers along with municipal services of improvements plant with flowers a memorial flowerbed in Gagarin Park of Remembrance every year by Victory Day.

Activists ensure entertainment and health-improving activities, coordinate functioning of study, hobby and sports groups, arrange different events.

Every year students of our faculty participate in events scheduled by the faculty organizer of mass sporting activities. Moreover they are also involved in Health Days held at the recreation center “Nezhegol” in Titovka where they take part in different team and individual sport competitions between faculties of BelSU and groups of our faculty.

Faculty of Engineering and Physics is a traditional lace of training for foreign students. They are to get used to new living conditions in a foreign land as well as to training and value systems of our people. All students find common ground and adapt to new training requirements successfully through creative teamwork.
